Mouse jiggler vs scheduled cloud presence
A mouse jiggler (hardware or software) moves the cursor or presses a harmless key so the OS does not sleep. For Microsoft Teams or Slack, that can delay Away only while that computer stays on and connected.
Scheduled cloud presence (what keepme.green runs) keeps a real signed-in browser session in the cloud during hours you set. Your laptop can be closed.
Side-by-side
| Mouse jiggler / stay-awake app | keepme.green | |
|---|---|---|
| Needs your laptop on | Yes | No |
| Survives lid close | No | Yes |
| Real chat login | On your machine | On a cloud browser you sign into |
| Hours / schedule | Usually “whenever the PC is on” | Weekly windows you define |
| Stops after hours | Only if you turn it off | Session stops when the window ends |
| Price shape | One-time dongle or free utility | €9 / session slot / month |
When a jiggler is enough
- The laptop stays on your desk all day.
- IT allows stay-awake tools.
- You only need to avoid idle sleep, not leave the building with the machine off.
When scheduled presence fits better
- You need Available / green while the computer is off or in a bag.
- You want presence only for set blocks (morning + afternoon), not forever.
- You want Peek / proof that the chat tab is actually live.
- You hold more than one account (extra slots).
What keepme.green is not
It is not a fake-status API and not a promise to bypass workplace rules. You sign in yourself. Outside your hours, the session stops. Policy compliance is your responsibility.
